Porsche Service Serving All of Brentwood, CA

Brentwood is one of the most heavily planted parts of the Westside. Coral trees run down the middle of San Vicente Boulevard, Mandeville and Sullivan canyons are lined with sycamores and oaks, and Brentwood Park sits under a full canopy. Cars park beneath those trees, and the Santa Ana winds in fall bring the leaves down all at once. That matters to a Porsche because of where Porsche puts the radiators.

A water-cooled 911, Boxster or Cayman carries its radiators low in the front corners, ahead of the wheels, with the A/C condensers mounted in front of them. Air reaches them through intakes in the bumper, and the intakes are open or only lightly screened. Leaves and grit are drawn in and drop to the bottom of the duct, between the condenser and the radiator, where they can't be seen from outside. They stay wet from rain and car washes and hold that moisture against thin aluminum. The metal corrodes from the bottom edge up. The condenser usually goes first, and the air conditioning stops cooling. Later the radiator seeps coolant at the same corner. The cure is dull: clear the ducts once or twice a year. You can reach a good part of the debris yourself with a vacuum and a narrow nozzle through the bumper openings. What a vacuum can't reach usually needs the car on a lift. On a Cayenne or Macan with a panoramic roof, the same leaves block the roof drains, and the water turns up in the footwells.

Why Brentwood Drivers Trust The Werkstatt

Brentwood owners often see what looks like two faults, an A/C that has stopped cooling and a coolant seep, when both can come from the same packed leaves. Ours is an independent shop that works only on Porsches, with more than 30 years behind it, on every model line from the 911 and Boxster to the Cayenne and Panamera. We're one shop, at 10527 Santa Monica Blvd. Bring the car in, we'll evaluate it and give you a quote.

    • Leaves from Brentwood's coral trees and sycamores collect in the front radiator ducts of a 911, Boxster or Cayman and corrode the lower edges of the radiators and condensers
    • A/C that stops cooling usually has a leak, often at a corroded condenser: see Porsche A/C repair
    • On a Cayenne or Macan with a panoramic roof, the same leaves can block the roof and cowl drains and send water into the footwells
    • We work on Porsche only, every model line from the 911 and Boxster to the Cayenne and Panamera
    • A condenser that is leaking needs attention; a radiator that is only discolored is something to keep an eye on

    About Brentwood, CA

Brentwood is a neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, rising from the flats near Wilshire Boulevard into the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, with the 405 on its east side. The Getty Center looks down on it from the hill above the freeway. San Vicente Boulevard runs through with its median of coral trees, and the Brentwood Country Mart stands at San Vicente and 26th Street. Sunset Boulevard winds across the north, and Mandeville, Sullivan and Kenter canyons climb into the hills from it. Most cars are kept in private driveways and garages, often under old trees. Our shop is south and east, under the 405 on Santa Monica Boulevard.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Porsche Service in Brentwood

Answers to common questions from Brentwood drivers about Porsche Service.

Why has my Porsche's air conditioning stopped blowing cold?

Usually a refrigerant leak, and on a 911, Boxster or Cayman a condenser corroded by trapped leaves is a frequent source. Refrigerant isn't used up, so a recharge without finding the leak cools for a while and then stops.

Can I clean the leaves out of the front intakes myself?

Partly. A vacuum with a narrow nozzle through the bumper openings removes the loose material. What has packed down between the condenser and the radiator can only be reached with the parts moved apart.

There's a sweet smell and a small puddle behind a front wheel. What is it?

Coolant smells sweet, and a drip at a front corner points to the radiator or a hose there. Don't drive on if the temperature climbs, and call us about a cooling system repair. Clear, odorless water under the car with the A/C running is only condensation.

How do I get to your shop from Brentwood?

Take Barrington Avenue or Bundy Drive south to Santa Monica Boulevard and turn east. Pass under the 405 and continue about a mile to 10527.
